Why You Should Be Seen After an Accident

After a serious crash, call 911 or go to the emergency room first — especially if anyone hit their head, lost consciousness, or has severe pain, numbness, weakness or trouble breathing.

Adrenaline can hide pain for hours or even days after a motor vehicle accident. Whiplash, concussions and back injuries often show up later, and a prompt exam gives you a clear record of your injuries from the start.

What we check for

  • Neck pain and stiffness (whiplash)
  • Back and shoulder pain
  • Mild headaches that start after the crash (a severe headache, confusion, repeated vomiting or passing out means go to the ER)
  • Bruising, cuts and seat-belt injuries
  • Possible fractures, with X-ray on site

After your visit

You'll leave with a treatment plan, and we document your exam findings in your medical record. Ask our staff for copies of your records if you need them for an insurance claim.

Live Oak Health & Urgent Care is not an emergency room. Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room for chest pain, trouble breathing, signs of a stroke, severe bleeding, a serious injury, or any symptom that is severe, getting worse quickly or worries you. When in doubt, go to the ER first.
